Study Day: Palliative Care and Symptom Management for People with End-Stage Dementia, North Devon Hospice, Wednesday, 29. April 2020

This day starts with establishing the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology of the brain. Learners will gain an understanding on the effects of dementia upon the individual and explore the progressive disorders within the syndrome. By the end of the course, learners will understand how to manage end of life symptoms within dementia care (Pain/discomfort, agitation and restlessness, nausea and vomiting) considering both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches.
Aim:
To have knowledge and understanding of end of life care for individuals with dementia
Learning Outcomes:

Recall the basic structure and functions of the brain
Describe the common types and incidence of dementia
Understand how dementia affects simple activities of daily living we take for granted
Identify and manage symptoms associated with end of life care in advanced dementia using pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches
Understand the importance of holistic care of the dying patient with dementia.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? Yes
What if I want to cancel?  If you wish to cancel your booking you will need to give 5 working days notice, as per our booking terms and conditions. Failure to give 5 working days notice or non-attendance will incur a £50 fee per person to cover administration costs, unfortunately as we are a charity this fee is non-negotiable.
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable? You can transfer your ticket to another person or to another event, please see full terms and conditions on our website.
