Course description
This qualification is aimed at those looking to undertake the role of an Emergency first aider in the workplace, as outlined in the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

This qualification has the purpose of supporting a role in the First Aid at Work course is a very popular first aid course for LOW-risk workplaces such as offices and small businesses or companies.

What you will learn
Emergency First Aid at Work course is a very popular first aid course for LOW-risk workplaces such as offices and small businesses or companies.
This emergency first aid at work course will equip you with those essential lifesaving skills such as how to safely manage an unconscious casualty and how to give lifesaving CPR that will make such a difference to an unconscious casualty who has stopped breathing.
You will also learn how to use an AED in an emergency with confidence and competence, also how to put the casualty into the recovery position whilst awaiting medical assistance.
Also included on this emergency first aid at work course you will learn how to provide essential treatment for minor injuries such as burns, scalds, bites, cuts, grazes, wounds,  bleeds, and convulsive seizures and quite a bit more too in this fast-paced but fun 6 hours tutor-led training.

Emergency first aid at work syllabus
Understand the role and responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider in reference to:

Preventing cross infection

Importance of recording incidents and actions

Using available equipment

Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

Be able to administer and provide first aid to a casualty who:

is unresponsive but breathing normally

is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally

is choking

has external bleeding

is suffering from medical shock

has splinters,

has cuts, grazes, and bruising

has minor burns or scalds

is having a seizure

Course duration
6 guided learning hours (1day).

Course tests
Practical observations during your training day and a final multi-choice question paper at the end of your course.

Course qualification
Candidates who successfully pass all the practical elements of the course and pass the final  multi-choice paper will be awarded an Ofqual approved QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)This is valid for 3 years from the date of the course, you will receive an A4 size certificate and also a wallet/purse size plastic qualification card.

Course pre-requisites

This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a workplace emergency first aider. Candidates between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole emergency first aider. It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent. Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.

Photo ID is a requirement to prove identity this is a requirement for Ofqual (Regulator) and Qualifications Network (Awarding Organisation))
