Breakaway and Physical Intervention Training for Professionals working with Young People , UK, Wednesday, 27. March 2019

If you are currently working in or managing a service that has Individuals who exhbit high risk challenging behaviours, where staff are at times reqired to use last resort interventions, this training course is designed to ensure interventions are used that are as safe, least intrusive and supportive as is possible. 
This course uses techniques from the General Services Association, a company used by many of the NHS trusts. Techniques are risk assessed and medically reviewed yearly. Attendees will received a recognised qualification from the GSA which will last for 1 year before needing to be updated.
Aims of the course


 To learn practical techniques to break away and stay safe when exposed to physical aggression.




 To learn practical techniques for last resort physical intervention, from low level interventions to high risk situations.




 To understand the legalities and risks around the use of physical intervention.


 To gain a basic knowledge of non invasive de-escalation skills.


Attendee's will be assessed throughout the course and will need to show a good level of ability and understanding of the techniques in order to pass.
This course will be run by three qualified GSA tutors:
* Sam Harris - A GSA tutor since 2009 and BIS-net manager and trainer. 
* Rachel Temple - A GSA tutor since 2012, Youth Services Manager at CEDA and First Aid trainer
* Nick Cranston - A gsa Tutor since 2012, Youth Services Manager at CEDA and Safeguarding Officer
